This course is the first part of the two-semester-long senior year graduation project, carried out by a team of students in collaboration with an external organization. Analysis of the current system and operations, perceived problem definition with the formulation of possible causes and explanations for the problem, proposed solution strategies. Agreement of the project deliverables with the external organization. Build and verify the conceptual and the operational model to demonstrate that it is performing as expected. Plan the validation of the approach by using actual data as input to obtain the observed output. Throughout the semester, teams plan their activities by determining and updating work packages and time schedules. Teams demonstrate their communication capabilities with reports and presentations.
