Industrial Applications of Operations Research

IE 469 is about turning operations research models you've seen in theory into working decision tools inside the software practitioners actually use, Excel, Solver, and VBA. You'll move through six case studies and a build-your-own project, starting with spreadsheet fundamentals and pivot tables before layering on LP/IP via Solver, Monte Carlo and discrete-event simulation, and finally VBA macros, UserForms, and heuristics like nearest-neighbor for TSP. It sits downstream of the core OR sequence (IE 202/302) and serves as the bridge between formulating a model on paper and shipping something a non-technical manager can click through, which is most of what entry-level IE work actually looks like.
