Landscape Plants

Landscape Plants is where you start treating plants as design material rather than just biology — learning to read a species by its form, scale, ecological needs, and Latin name so you can actually specify it in a planting plan. The semester runs as paired lectures and field study: you sit through weekly quizzes on angiosperms, shrubs, ground covers, and perennials, give student presentations, and carry a Park Design project through pre-jury and desk crits using the planting-design principles introduced in class. It's the botanical vocabulary your later studios will assume you already have, bridging the gap between studio composition and the living material that has to survive on site.
