Site Design Techniques is where landscape architecture stops being purely visual and starts dealing with the physics of actually building on a piece of land — how water moves across a slope, how much earth you have to cut and fill to make a path walkable, how a contour line on a map becomes a real grade outside. You'll work through grading exercises, interpolation and slope problems, cut-and-fill calculations, and a research project on site elements like paving, walls, drainage, and planting. It's the engineering backbone that lets later studio work hold up when someone tries to construct it, bridging the design intuition from first-year studios into the technical detailing you'll need for senior projects.
