Flora of Turkey

Turkey sits at the intersection of three phytogeographic regions, and this course trains you to read that landscape, recognizing which native species belong where, and why climate, topography, and soil push certain plant communities into certain places. You'll spend the semester identifying species, taking a field trip, and producing four design projects that put native plants to work in actual landscape compositions, with biodiversity and climate-change pressures as the lens. It's the plant-materials backbone for the rest of the LAUD studio sequence: once you know the flora, you can design with it instead of just drawing green blobs.
