Thinking Mathematically II

MATH 104 is the second half of a quantitative literacy sequence aimed at non-math majors, built around the idea that everyday decisions — taking out a loan, reading a poll, sizing a room, judging the odds of a bet — are fundamentally mathematical, and that you should be able to reason through them rather than guess. The work is mostly problem-solving on paper: weekly exercises and two midterms plus a final where you'll compute interest on a mortgage one week and a conditional probability or an Euler circuit the next, working out of Blitzer's textbook. It satisfies a general-education requirement and doesn't feed into further math courses, so treat it as a toolkit for life outside the classroom — finance, measurement, statistics, and a bit of discrete math you'll actually use.
