This course treats the brain as a molecular and cellular system, working from the biophysics of a single neuron's membrane up through synaptic transmission, signaling cascades, and the circuits that produce movement, sensation, and emotion. You'll move between lectures, primary-literature presentations, and case studies on neurological and psychiatric disorders, so the work is as much about reading and explaining mechanisms as it is about memorizing them. It sits at the point where the cell biology, biochemistry, and genetics you've already taken converge on a real organ, and it's the natural entry point before any deeper neuroscience or neuropharmacology elective.
