MBG 513 is about turning biological data into answers — learning how to ask the right computational questions of genomes, transcriptomes, and protein networks rather than just running tools blindly. You'll spend most of your time in R (tidyverse plus Bioconductor) working through NGS pipelines, differential expression, clustering, dimension reduction, and functional enrichment, with hands-on practice reinforced by take-home exams, five homeworks, and a presentation tied to a primary-literature reading. Coming in with molecular biology fundamentals, this is the course that bridges wet-lab thinking and data science, and it's the foundation almost any modern MBG thesis or downstream omics work will lean on.
