This is a hands-on graduate seminar where you treat the computer not as a recording tool but as a compositional partner — building systems that generate, react to, and spatialize sound in real time. You'll spend the term writing audio in RTcmix, embedding generative scores inside Unity, training small ML models with Wekinator to map gestures to sound, and wiring up microcontrollers as custom controllers, all culminating in a substantial project alongside four homeworks. It builds on prior computer music or programming experience and points toward the interactive installation, game audio, and VR/AR work that defines contemporary practice.
