Orientation for Chemistry Majors

CHEM 120 is essentially a weekly window into what the Bilkent chemistry faculty actually research, so you can start mapping the field beyond the textbook chemistry you saw in high school. You'll sit in on seminars where individual professors walk through their own work, catalysis, solar harvesting, nanomaterials for biomedicine, theoretical chemical physics, and the goal is exposure rather than mastery, with the bulk of the ECTS load coming from your own reading around each talk. Treat it as a low-stakes orientation that helps you pick an undergraduate research direction and a thesis advisor a few years down the line.
