Analytical Chemistry I

Analytical chemistry is where you stop treating "the answer" as a single number and start asking how confident you actually are in it — the whole course is built around quantifying uncertainty as much as quantifying analytes. You'll spend the semester working through gravimetric and titrimetric problems, propagating errors statistically, and modeling titration curves (often in Excel) for acid-base and precipitation systems grounded in equilibrium theory. It builds on the general chemistry sequence and sets up the instrumental methods you'll see in CHEM 212 and the lab courses, so the habits of careful sampling, calibration, and error analysis you pick up here carry through the rest of the chemistry curriculum.
