Media and Design Studio I

COMD 281 is where you stop thinking about media as content to consume and start treating image and sound as material you shape, frame, light, mic, cut. Most of your time goes to studio and field exercises building toward a final short project, with a practical midterm and final that test whether you can actually operate the gear and make deliberate choices, not just describe them. It's the first half of the year-long Media and Design Studio sequence and the place where the conceptual vocabulary from your first-year design courses becomes something you can shoot, record, and edit on your own.
