COMD 281 is where you stop thinking about media as content to consume and start treating image and sound as material you shape — frame, light, mic, cut. Most of your time goes to studio and field exercises building toward a final short project, with a practical midterm and final that test whether you can actually operate the gear and make deliberate choices, not just describe them. It's the first half of the year-long Media and Design Studio sequence and the place where the conceptual vocabulary from your first-year design courses becomes something you can shoot, record, and edit on your own.
