Screenwriting here is treated as structural engineering for stories — you learn how character, conflict, and scene architecture actually carry a film, not just how to format a script. Most of the semester is spent building your own work: generating premises, pitching them to the class, drafting a short narrative screenplay through revisions, and putting together a proposal for a second audio-visual project. It's the writing-side foundation for the production and directing courses later in the COMD track, and the pitching practice matters as much as the pages — in this field, an unsold script is just a document.
