COMD 308 is a hands-on studio course built around the discipline of orchestrating multiple cameras in real time — the kind of coordinated decision-making that turns a live concert or performance into a watchable broadcast. You'll spend most weeks in the studio doing the actual work: drafting camera scripts and running orders, setting up rigs for classical music shoots, operating during live recordings, and then cutting the footage in post. The course is heavily weighted toward practical assessment (a six-part final skills exam plus two studio works), so it functions less as a lecture sequence and more as an apprenticeship in the production-team workflow that underlies professional TV and event coverage.
