Food and Beverage Computer Applications

CTIS 286 is essentially about running the back-office of a hotel kitchen or restaurant through software, turning the messy reality of suppliers, stockrooms, recipes, and portion costs into a clean database you can actually query and report on. You'll spend the semester inside a commercial F&B package building item catalogs, entering invoices, costing recipes (including sub-recipes and what-if scenarios), setting min/max par levels, and pulling reconciliation reports, with both the midterm and final graded as hands-on practical exams rather than written tests. As a spring sophomore CTIS course it sits alongside your other applied-IT requirements and is meant to show how the database and reporting concepts you're learning in general get specialized for one vertical, useful background if you later end up doing ERP, inventory, or hospitality-sector consulting work.
