Principles of Software Engineering

CTIS 359 is where you stop thinking of software as code you write alone and start treating it as a process you plan, estimate, and manage across a team and a lifecycle. You'll work through the full SDLC — picking between waterfall, iterative, and agile models, building work-breakdown structures, estimating effort with FPA, Use Case Points, and COCOMO, and reasoning about quality, testing, and configuration management, with the ideas reinforced through quizzes, a midterm, and a final. Coming after your programming-heavy CTIS courses, it's the bridge to senior project work: once you've built things, this is where you learn why most software projects actually fail and how engineering discipline keeps yours from joining them.
