CTIS 359 is where you stop thinking of software as code you write alone and start treating it as a process you plan, estimate, and manage across a team and a lifecycle. You'll work through the full SDLC, picking between waterfall, iterative, and agile models, building work-breakdown structures, estimating effort with FPA, Use Case Points, and COCOMO, and reasoning about quality, testing, and configuration management, with the ideas reinforced through quizzes, a midterm, and a final. Coming after your programming-heavy CTIS courses, it's the bridge to senior project work: once you've built things, this is where you learn why most software projects actually fail and how engineering discipline keeps yours from joining them.

Use of GenAI tools in all assignments is strongly prohibited in this course. I also do not recommend using these tools for better understanding of subjects discussed during lectures, since they often generate incorrect information.
