Educational Foundation II

The course pairs the two lenses every future teacher needs: educational psychology (how children actually develop, think, and learn) and philosophy of education (the competing visions of what schooling is *for* — from Plato and Farabi through Dewey and the progressivist/essentialist debates). Expect weekly reflections on the readings, a midterm concept map tying the first six philosophies to learning theories, an Early Reflective Practice (ERP) placement at a Bilkent partner school with real observations and interviews, plus an essay and presentations. As the spring half of the first-year foundations sequence, it gives you the theoretical vocabulary you'll lean on in every methods, development, and practicum course that follows.
