Typography II

Typography II pushes past basic letterform mechanics into using type as a vehicle for meaning — how layout, scale, and form actually shape what a reader perceives, not just what they read. The semester runs on back-to-back studio projects: multi-page digital typesetting, experimental word-image posters, designing a logotype, building an expressive piece from that logotype, and a final type-designer study, each ending in a critique. Coming after the foundations of Typography I, this is where graphic design students start treating type as composition and concept rather than decoration, which is the working vocabulary the rest of the studio sequence assumes you have.
