Graphic Design for Non-Majors

GRA 209 is a hands-on introduction to thinking visually: how images, type, and layout actually communicate, and how to move an idea from a rough sketch to a finished digital artifact. Most of your time goes to studio work and four escalating projects (digital calligraphy, typographic info design, vector portrait, visual metaphor), learning Photoshop and Illustrator alongside the theory of grids, typography, and semiotics that justifies each design choice. It's a non-majors elective with no prereqs, aimed at giving students from other departments enough visual literacy and software fluency to produce credible design work for theses, presentations, or side projects.
