Computational Design Methods

Rather than pushing pixels or modeling objects one click at a time, this course teaches you to think of design as a system of rules and parameters, so that changing one input reshapes the whole composition non-destructively. You'll spend most of the semester inside Cinema 4D (with side exposure to Rhino/Grasshopper and Houdini), building up through three projects—procedural modeling, procedural typography, and a self-directed final—using MoGraph, effectors, xPresso, and basic node logic. It's a bridge from traditional graphic design tools toward the generative and parametric workflows that increasingly define motion design, branding systems, and computational art.
