Ancient Greek I is a ground-up introduction to the language of Homer, Plato, and the Athenian inscriptions you'll later encounter in archaeology fieldwork, built around the Athenaze textbook's ten opening chapters. You'll move through roughly one lesson per week, drilling declensions, verb paradigms, and core vocabulary via eight quizzes and five homework sets, with a midterm and final checking that you can actually parse and translate a passage rather than just recognize forms. The pace is brisk but cumulative, and the payoff comes in HART 232 and upper-level reading courses, where this foundation lets you engage with primary sources directly instead of through translations.
