Latin III

This is the third Latin course in the Archaeology sequence, where you finish off the grammar, subjunctive mood, participle systems, the last two declensions, and start actually reading unedited Latin instead of textbook exercises. Expect weekly translation homework, two quizzes, and steady drilling on clause types (purpose, result, indirect command, cum-circumstantial) since most of what you read in original texts hangs on recognizing them fast. The course also introduces epigraphy, which is the real payoff for archaeology students: once you can parse a subjunctive clause, you can read what's actually carved on the inscriptions and monuments you'll encounter in fieldwork and later coursework.
