This is the third Latin course in the Archaeology sequence, where you finish off the grammar — subjunctive mood, participle systems, the last two declensions — and start actually reading unedited Latin instead of textbook exercises. Expect weekly translation homework, two quizzes, and steady drilling on clause types (purpose, result, indirect command, cum-circumstantial) since most of what you read in original texts hangs on recognizing them fast. The course also introduces epigraphy, which is the real payoff for archaeology students: once you can parse a subjunctive clause, you can read what's actually carved on the inscriptions and monuments you'll encounter in fieldwork and later coursework.
