Lighting and color aren't decorative afterthoughts in interior design — they're physical phenomena that shape how a space is perceived, how people perform tasks in it, and how it feels emotionally. You'll work through the physics of light and the science of color perception (CIE observer, photometry, colorimetry, color systems), then turn that into design judgment through a term project, quizzes, and a literature-review report grounded in Boyce and the Shamey encyclopedia. As a graduate-level IAED elective, it gives the technical and perceptual foundation that more intuitive studio work usually leaves implicit, which matters once you're specifying real fixtures and finishes rather than rendering them.
