Environmental Analysis I

Environment-behavior studies sits at the intersection of psychology and design, asking how physical spaces shape (and are shaped by) the people who inhabit them — from how a child orients in a school corridor to why some neighborhoods feel like home. You'll read primary research across settings like residential, workplace, healthcare, and urban environments, then run your own literature review and term project that applies these methods to a real spatial case. As a graduate course, it gives interior architecture students the empirical grounding to defend design decisions with evidence rather than intuition, which feeds directly into thesis work and post-occupancy thinking.
