Simulation is your toolkit for analyzing systems too messy for closed-form math—queues, production lines, anything where randomness and timing interact in ways that defy a clean analytical answer. You'll build discrete-event models by hand and in Arena, wrestle with input distributions and random variate generation, then defend your conclusions with proper output analysis instead of eyeballing a single run. Coming after IE 220's probability and IE 256's stochastic models, this is where that theory finally meets a real system you can poke at, and it's the muscle you'll lean on in senior design and most operations-research jobs afterward.
