Instrument I

MSC 131 is where you start treating your instrument as a professional discipline rather than a hobby, building the practice habits, technical control, and interpretive awareness that everything later in your performance training depends on. You'll work through a graded repertoire list assigned by your instructor, performing pieces in two practical midterms and a final jury where what's evaluated is not just notes but phrasing, articulation, and stylistic understanding of the period you're playing. Expect the real work to happen in the practice room, not the classroom, with weekly lessons shaping how you prepare.
