MSC 132

Instrument II

The second semester of one-on-one instrumental study, where you keep building the technique and musicianship you started in MSC 131 on a fresh, more demanding set of pieces. Most of the work happens outside class: daily practice, weekly lessons with your instructor, and three practical juries (two midterms and a final) where you actually perform the repertoire rather than write about it. The point isn't just cleaner playing, it's learning to read a score historically and structurally, so the theory and music-history courses you take alongside it start showing up in how you phrase, articulate, and interpret what you perform.
