Chamber Music VIII

The eighth term of chamber music shifts the focus from playing your part correctly to shaping a collective interpretation — reading a Bartók or Shostakovich score as an ensemble argument about phrasing, balance, and rhythmic intent rather than a set of individual lines. You rehearse assigned works from the late-Romantic through modern repertoire (Ravel, Debussy, Webern, Saygun, Erkin) and are graded on two practical midterms and a final performance, so most of the work happens in coached sectionals and self-organized rehearsals. By this point the technical fundamentals are assumed; what's being trained is the listening and leadership needed to function as a chamber musician on stage.
