General Physics II

PHYS 102 is where electricity and magnetism stop being separate chapters and start fitting together as one theory, building from Coulomb's law and Gauss's law up through Faraday's law and finally Maxwell's equations, which predict light itself as an electromagnetic wave. Expect weekly problem sets that lean heavily on vector calculus, two midterms plus a final that test whether you can actually set up the integrals rather than recall formulas, and a lab component with written reports. It's the second half of the freshman physics sequence after PHYS 101 and a hard prerequisite for almost every engineering and physics course downstream, so the goal is fluency, not just passing.
