Tourism Economics applies standard micro and macro tools to an industry where the "product" is an experience tied to place, exchange rates, and seasonality — so you'll spend the semester working through demand and supply elasticities, cost structures, market power, and balance-of-payments effects, all anchored in Turkey's actual tourism flows and Tourism Satellite Accounts. Expect case-based group work, a project, and exams that ask you to reason about pricing, externalities, and policy rather than memorize definitions. As a senior elective in the THM track, it pulls together the economics, marketing, and operations you've taken earlier and reframes them through the lens of a sector that drives a meaningful share of national income and employment.
