Translation Studies II

TRIN 222 picks up where the first semester left off, shifting from foundational models to the postmodern theories that reshaped how we think about translation — cultural turn, manipulation, postcolonial and feminist approaches, sociology of the translator, and newer directions like audiovisual and eco-translation. Working through Munday's textbook, you'll give presentations, sit a midterm and final, and produce performance work that tests these frameworks against actual translation choices rather than treating them as abstract doctrine. The point is to build the critical vocabulary you'll lean on in later workshop and thesis courses, where theory has to defend itself against the messy realities of practice.
