Architectural Design Studio II

Studio II shifts the focus outward: you stop designing objects in isolation and start treating the site, its surroundings, and basic urban forces as part of the brief. The semester runs through a short warm-up and one term project, carried from site analysis and case studies into concept, site plan, and a juried final, with weekly desk crits and pin-ups doing most of the teaching. It builds directly on ARCH 201's formal exercises and sets up the building-scale work in later studios, so this is where you first learn to justify a design decision by pointing at the context outside the plot line.
