Key concepts in contemporary film studies, focusing on the deeply interconnected areas of genre, stardom, and director studies, categories to be discussed in conjunction with other fundamental concepts: narrative, mise-en-scene, gender, subjectivity, the gaze, spectatorship and audiences, and media industries. Application of these concepts in short, analytical papers and a final, in-depth critical essay.
