FA 131

Technical Drawing

FA 131 trains you to translate three-dimensional forms into the precise, conventional 2D language that designers, architects, and artists use to communicate ideas unambiguously. You'll spend the semester at the drafting table working through orthographic views, axonometric and oblique projections, and one- and two-point perspectives by hand, then transition into CAD for simple solids, with homework and studio exercises far outweighing the two midterms. As a first-semester foundation alongside Basic Design, it builds the visual literacy you'll lean on in every later studio and representation course in the FADA curriculum.
