Drawing II

Drawing II picks up where the fall introduction left off and pushes you from line-based observation into color, gesture, and the human figure, with the underlying idea that a drawing is a decision about form, value, and composition rather than just a copy of what you see. Expect a studio rhythm of weekly exercises, sketchbook homework (the 30-page sketch set early on sets the tone), two projects, and field trips that culminate in work shown at the end-of-year exhibition. Plan on real outside hours, pencils give way to pastels, inks, and mixed media, so you are constantly learning a new tool while building the visual vocabulary that later studios and your portfolio will lean on.
