Graphic Design I

Graphic Design I is where you stop thinking of design as decoration and start treating it as visual problem-solving, turning a brief into a concept, and a concept into something that actually communicates on the page. The semester runs as a studio: you keep a process sketchbook, work through a sequence of projects (starting with a page redesign and building toward a term project), and spend most of your time at the desk getting critiqued rather than listening to lectures. It's the foundation studio for the rest of the GRA track, where gestalt, color theory, and the analog-to-digital workflow you drill here become the assumed vocabulary for every later course.

The framework of syllabus is based on concept development in addition to idea generation, fundamental principles of graphic design, visual thinking, the execution of digital and analog techniques and color theory in particular through lectures, demonstrations, extensive studio classwork, critique and feedback sessions.

Çizimle ifade ve creative process sketchbook
Lecture: Expressing yourself in Drawing. Creative Process Sketchbook and Project 01: Page Redesign. The sketchbook is going to be a record of the student’s effort and dedication throughout the semester. The preparatory drawings and artworks which are regularly created by students each week, particularly along with research, experiments, thumbnails, written assessments and ideas, will make up the content of sketchbook.

These lectures will be the key considerations for the design process in terms of composing a successful graphic design project throughout the fall and spring semesters. Lectures: Idea Generation, Creative Ideas. Project 02: Pictograms. Demonstrations such as Spider Diagrams, Mind Mapping, Brainstorming, Sketching will be undertaken to advance the student's experience in notion and idea generation. The topics providing key strategies, methods for generating ideas are composed of wide range of disciplines to produce innovative graphic design solutions.
