A survey of art, architecture, and archaeology of the Mediterranean and Near East in the medieval and early modern periods, from Constantine the Great to the 15th century. Focus will be on the art and architecture of the Late Roman and Byzantine empires in Italy and the eastern Mediterranean basin and of early Islamic states.
