Human Factors

Ergonomics sits at the core of this course: the idea that interiors should be measured against real human bodies, abilities, and behaviors rather than assumed averages, with universal design pulling the lens wider to include users who get ignored by default. You work through anthropometric data and apply it to actual settings — seating, kiosks, offices, kitchens, bathrooms, auditoriums — via case-study presentations, a quiz, midterm, and final, alongside a design jury. It's the analytical backbone behind your studio decisions, turning "this looks right" into "this fits the people using it," which is what makes the rest of the IAED curriculum defensible.
