Construction and Materials I

This is where you stop sketching pretty interiors and start asking how the building actually stands up — loads, structural systems, walls, floors, roofs, and the materials that hold them together. Most of the work is on the drafting table: weekly performance exercises on masonry walls, stud walls, and vertical circulation, plus a term project where you translate a 1/100 site plan into proper 1/50 working drawings (plan, section, elevation). It's the technical backbone behind your studio designs and the prerequisite for Construction II, so the goal is to leave able to read and produce a working drawing set, not just a presentation board.
