Graduate Studio II

Graduate Studio II is where you actually run a piece of design research end-to-end rather than just reading about other people's. You'll narrow a problem out of the existing literature, commit to a methodology with explicit hypotheses and research questions, gather and analyze your own data, and then push the findings into a concrete model, set of criteria, or design guidance, defended through two research essays, two presentations, and a term project worth 40%. It's the methods-and-execution counterpart to the literature-heavy first studio, and it's what trains you to write a thesis chapter that holds up under scrutiny.
