A graduate-level grounding in how knowledge about interiors and built environments actually gets produced, this course pushes you to move past intuition and treat design questions as researchable problems with sources, samples, and defensible methods. You will read social-science research, draft a proposal, work through conceptualization and sampling decisions, and run basic descriptive and inferential analyses on your own small study. It sets up the thesis track: by the time you write a serious proposal, you should know why you chose a survey over interviews, what counts as evidence, and how to defend the design rather than just the topic.
