Biology I

MBG 101 is the entry point into molecular biology, where the goal is to see life as a system of molecules running the central dogma, DNA, RNA, and proteins interacting through cells, genes, and immune or developmental programs. Alongside the lectures, you spend the semester in the lab actually doing it: isolating DNA, running gels, cloning and transforming, culturing cells, and purifying proteins, with lab reports, quizzes, two midterms, and an open-book final tying it together. As the foundation MBG course, it sets the vocabulary and bench instincts every later course, genetics, biochemistry, cell biology, quietly assumes you already have.
