Genetics as a quantitative, mechanistic science: how information flows from allele to organism to population, and how we infer that flow from crosses, pedigrees, mapping data, and sequence. You'll work through Mendelian and non-Mendelian inheritance, linkage and chromosome mapping, mutation and repair, and finish in quantitative, population, and evolutionary genetics, with two midterms, homework sets, an in-class essay, and a term project doing the synthesis. It sits on the molecular biology you've already taken and feeds directly into cancer genetics, developmental genetics, and bioinformatics electives downstream.
