Singing for Theatre II

Building on the foundation laid in Singing for Theatre I, this semester pushes your voice into more demanding territory — sustaining tone, shaping phrasing, and carrying character through song without losing the actor underneath. Most of the work happens in the studio: warming up with Lax Vox tube-in-water phonation to manage breath pressure and resonance, then transferring those sensations into assigned repertoire you'll rehearse and perform. It's a small-credit course but a load-bearing one for theatre majors, since the vocal habits you build here are what later staging and performance classes assume you already have.

Cup phonation for easy high notes: using a cup to create balanced pressure on the vocal folds. SAB harmonization exercise. Learning the assigned pieces for the semester program: sight-reading, application of correct vocal technique, style interpretation, research on form, structure, and composer.

Hafta 3

Nasal port occlusion techniques for increased resonance. Learning the assigned pieces for the semester program: sight-reading, application of correct vocal technique, style interpretation, research on form, structure, and composer.

Hafta 4

Puff Cheeks (Buccal) SOVTE for resonance. Finalize semester repertoire. Learning the assigned pieces for the semester program: sight-reading, technical works, research of style, form, structure, composer.
