Chamber Music III

Third-semester chamber music shifts the focus from playing your part correctly to functioning as one voice inside a small ensemble, using the Classical trios and quartets of Beethoven, Mozart, and Schubert as the proving ground. You'll spend the term in a fixed group, rehearsing assigned works week by week and being graded entirely on practical performance juries rather than written exams. It builds directly on MSC 231-232 and feeds into the upper-level chamber sequence and your eventual recital work, where the listening, blending, and rehearsal-leading habits you develop here are what separate a soloist from a usable ensemble musician.
