Chamber Music IV

The fourth semester of chamber music narrows the lens onto Classical-era ensemble playing, working through Schubert and Beethoven where the real challenge is not the notes but how four or five players breathe, phrase, and balance as one instrument. You rehearse assigned works in your group throughout the term and are graded entirely on performance — two practical midterms and a final jury — so the work happens in the practice room with your ensemble, not on paper. By this point the technical baseline is assumed; the course is about learning to solve musical problems collectively and carry a piece to concert-ready shape, which is the habit every later chamber and recital course builds on.
