Sixth-semester applied instrument study, where the focus shifts from acquiring fundamentals to refining interpretation: you take on a more demanding repertoire and are expected to make defensible musical decisions about phrasing, articulation, and stylistic context, not just play the notes correctly. The work is almost entirely one-on-one with your instructor and self-directed practice, assessed through two practical midterms and a final jury where you perform the assigned pieces. It picks up directly from MSC 331 and continues the long arc of private lessons that defines a performance degree, with each semester pushing your technical ceiling and interpretive maturity a step higher toward your graduation recital.
