Voice and Speech I

The foundation of an actor's instrument starts here: training the body to produce a free, supported voice and clear speech that can carry meaning under the demands of performance. You'll spend the semester drilling breath and diaphragm support, working through word lists, tongue twisters, and sentence sheets each week, then building up to monologue work where everything gets applied to actual text. It's a required first-year studio that pairs with your acting and movement classes — the technical groundwork that later voice, speech, and performance courses assume you already own.
