This is where the reactions you learned on paper in Organic Chemistry I and II actually happen at the bench: you take the separation and purification skills from CHEM 235 and use them to run real syntheses, including a Grignard to make triphenylmethanol, a borohydride reduction, and the classic aspirin prep. The bigger shift from last semester is characterization — you start interpreting UV-Vis, FT-IR, and 1D/2D NMR spectra to prove what you actually made, not just that something came out of the flask. Expect weekly quizzes, lab reports, and a final, with the spectroscopy fluency feeding directly into later chemistry electives and any research lab you might join.
