Organic Chemistry I

Organic chemistry is really the grammar of carbon: once you internalize how electrons move, structure dictates reactivity in a way that's more logical than the memorization reputation suggests. You'll spend the semester pushing arrows through mechanisms, working through stereochemistry problems, and learning to predict what alkanes, alkenes, and alkynes do when they meet nucleophiles and electrophiles, backed by two midterms and steady problem sets out of Solomons. It's the gateway to CHEM 232 and to anything downstream that touches molecules, from biochemistry to materials, so the mechanistic intuition you build here is the foundation everything else assumes.
